From 6 to 10 July 2026, PhD students from the ExplainMe project participated in the European Summer School on Fuzzy Logic and Applications (SFLA 2026), held at the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland.
The summer school brought together PhD students, early-career researchers, and experts in fuzzy logic from across Europe. Over five days, participants attended lectures and practical sessions covering topics such as fuzzy logical connectives, interval-valued data, fuzzy machine learning, clustering, and decision-making.
The event was particularly valuable for the ExplainMe PhD students, introducing them to different perspectives and methods relevant to their research. The hands-on sessions provided opportunities to explore these ideas in practice, while discussions with lecturers and fellow participants helped them consider how these approaches could be applied to their ongoing work within the project.
As part of the summer school, each participant also gave a short presentation introducing themselves, their academic background, and their research interests, along with a glimpse into their personal hobbies. These presentations offered a chance to learn more about one another beyond the lectures and encouraged conversations about both research and shared interests.
Beyond the academic sessions, the summer school offered opportunities to connect with other young researchers and exchange experiences. One particularly memorable activity was a treasure hunt around the university campus, during which participants discovered some of its landmarks and learned about their historical significance.
Overall, SFLA 2026 was an inspiring experience for the ExplainMe PhD students, combining valuable learning opportunities with engaging discussions with fellow researchers.
