We are delighted to share the news of the 2026 A.V. “Bal” Balakrishnan Award for Excellence in Scientific Research in Mathematics of Systems granted to Professor Irena LASIECKA. The award is conferred by the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California.
This distinction recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of Mathematics for Systems. The laureate is selected by a committee from among several top-tier nominated scholars. Professor Lasiecka was chosen unanimously in recognition of her contributions to the applications of partial differential equations in control theory.
The award will be presented in the autumn of 2026 at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. During the ceremony, the Laureate will deliver a lecture.
