It is with deep sorrow that we learned of the passing away of Professor Andrzej Wierzbicki, outstanding scientist, author of original concepts in control theory, optimization and decision support, having made vital contribution to the development of information technologies in Poland.
Professor Wierzbicki was primarily associated with Warsaw University of Technology, but also with the Institute of Communication and with NASK National Institute. He was also for quite a long time a member of the Scientific Council of the Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, and collaborated in multiple ways with the scientists from our institute. He was the first scientists from outside of the US to be awarded The Georg Cantor Award.
His extremely ample research achievements gained wide international recognition, especially in domain of multicriteria optimization theory and decision support.
We join in the feeling of great loss and deep grief all those directly affected by His death.
