On June 5, 2025, an informal group bringing together leading Polish computer science researchers was formed, comprising individuals featured at the top of international scientific rankings, recipients of the most prestigious awards and grants, and honorary members (fellows) of the world’s foremost computer science associations. These individuals expressed their commitment to joint action aimed at drawing the attention of policymakers and the public to the importance of computer science—particularly basic and industrial research—for the economic and social development and security of our country, and at encouraging the implementation of strategic initiatives in this area, following the example of other countries.
Six scientists from the Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IBS PAN) are members of the group (Professors: Andrzej Cichocki, Janusz Kacprzyk, Leszek Rutkowski, Roman Słowiński, Eulalia Szmidt, Sławomir Zadrożny).
More information can be found in the announcement about the formation of the group and on the group’s LinkedIn page (in Polish).
