Parallel computer architecture construction has proliferated throughout the world. Many of the architectures developed outside the US embody novel designs or reflect organizational imperatives outside the current American mainstream. This seminar will examine a variety of parallel architectures constructed abroad during roughly the last decade. Our dual focus will be on innovative architecture designs and on architectures developed under practical circumstances very different from our own. Our tour of global parallel computing will include Japan, Russia, France, Australia, India, the People's Republic of China and others.
