ABSTRACT

Proffitt's, Inc. is the result of the merger of six department store chains. Proffitt's is now the 4th largest department store retail chain with $3.5B in sales from 238 stores in 24 states. The challenge to the I/S organization is to combine the I/S resources of these six chains into the optimum organization to support the combination of these operations, plus prepare for future mergers. This seminar addresses the tools and techniques being deployed by Proffitt's to build a "best practices" set of solutions, connected by a set of object-oriented middle ware called the Retail Integration Layer.
