ABSTRACT
This presentation will cover the issues and expert opinions presented in a panel session at the 1999 International Symposium on Spatial Data Quality on the use of statistical and fuzzy set approaches to handling spatial data uncertainty. These have for many years been the two most commonly used approaches for dealing with the issue of uncertainty as it relates to spatial data. Questions to be resolved include:
Traditionally, these issues of uncertainty management have often been represented by strongly held, diverse opinions as to which approach is more feasible. This panel session was organized as a step toward ameliorating these differences, and providing incentives for combining forces.
