ABSTRACT

The various evolutionary approaches to computation - genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolutionary programming and evolution strategies - will be briefly described and compared. The genetic algorithm paradigm will be discussed in some detail. An application to image classification will be described that utitlizes a fuzzy semantic network for fitness calculation. Some other applications will be briefly mentioned.
