TOPIC : Paradyn Parallel Performance Tools

A) Some History and Motivation :

1.) Paradyn evolved from the IPS-2 Performance Tools developed at University of Wisconsin.
2.) Paradyn is a Trace-based tool running on workstations, SMP(sequent), Cray Y-MP/C90.
3.) Paradyn has many commercial successes : In Sun SparcWorks, Informix OnView, and at NSF Supercomputer Centers.
4.) Paradyn has many real scientific and database/transaction users.

B) Because tracing of data can be too expensive, that motivated the creation of a new tool, Paradyn Parallel Performance Tools. Paradyn does everything dynamically.

C) Profiling Performance :
Since Paradyn does everything dynamically, it allows the programmer to do most tasks in a single execution thereby eliminating many steps of iteration.
