Description of Seminar 3
Sep. 16, 1997
Last Wednesday, Dr. Xuefeng Li give us a talk about "An Incremental Engineering Design Process Based on a flow simulation" on the seminar. Dr. Xuefeng Li is a faculty member of University of Royallar at New Orleans. He is an expert in the field of Computer Science and Mathimatics.
In his method, all the data can be reused. First, it will initial the data, then use Hierarchical Incompressible Flow Simulator to build a Blob-tree. After that the system will evaluate the design, if modification of Geometry, Accuracy, Viscosity and Speed is not neccessary, then stop; if yes then goes to total Reinitialization Reusing Data to start again.
In A Hierarchical Incompressible Flow Simulator, first, it will ask to create Blob, then create potential flow, create Blob tree. After that, the subsystem will evaluate the velocity, if got the steady state, then exit; if not traslate the new Blob and do create blob and repeat again.
This kind of Incremental Engineering Design Process is very useful in complexical engineering design like car design. It will save a lot of time and labors to get an accurate result.
